Nestled in the heart of Sydney’s inner west, the Inner Sydney Montessori School (ISMS) places a strong emphasis on creating safe, functional, and future-ready outdoor learning environments for its students. As part of this effort, Mascot Engineering was proud to supply key elements to support both surface water management and underground electrical services across the site.
Engineered for Education
The primary school project features Mascot GRC Drainage Pits fitted with high-flow Galvanised Mild Steel (GMS) drainage grates, specifically selected for the school’s playground and landscaped outdoor spaces. These grates are designed to handle large volumes of water during storm events while maintaining a safe surface for children at play.
In addition to drainage, Mascot GRC Electrical Pits were used at the site to house and protect cable joints and electrical infrastructure, each fitted with GMS checkerplate covers. These durable covers provide a secure, non-slip surface (P3 rated AS4586) and are ideal for areas with light vehicular or pedestrian access—perfect for a school environment where safety and longevity are paramount.
Lightweight, Durable and Australian Made
Mascot’s Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) pits are lightweight, making them easy to handle and install—especially important in school upgrades with tight timelines and restricted access often only during school holidays.
As with all Mascot Engineering GRC products, they are proudly Australian made, and supported by our experienced team who work closely with resellers and installers to ensure projects like this school are delivered on time and to spec.
