OrcaDrain — Polymer Concrete Drainage Channels

At the centre of the Orca range is OrcaDrain, the brand’s flagship polymer concrete drainage channel system. Widely specified across commercial, civil, and infrastructure projects, OrcaDrain offers a comprehensive range of grates available in all load ratings in accordance with AS/NZ 3996:2019, supporting applications from pedestrian areas through to heavy-duty traffic environments.

Through the acquisition of Orca Civil Products, Mascot Engineering has expanded its product offering to include a portfolio of polymer concrete technologies, capabilities and systems developed through Orca’s long-standing focus on innovation and performance.

In addition to its leadership in polymer concrete drainage systems, the Orca range, includes a number of patented and purpose-designed solutions to address safety, durability, and performance challenges across civil and transport infrastructure.

This includes Griptech® grating and platform products, designed to provide enhanced slip resistance and long-term performance in pedestrian, commercial, and trafficable environments. Designed for use in demanding conditions, Griptech products combine structural integrity with improved surface safety outcomes.

Orca’s innovation also extends to traffic management through OrcaTraffic — a modular range of pedestrian safety islands and bike lane separators designed to improve safety for motorists, cyclists, and public transport networks, including tramways.

Pioneering Recycled Polymer Concrete

In 2017, Orca developed an Australian innovation that utilises glass destined for landfill as a key component of its polymer concrete. Australians consume approximately 1.36 million tonnes of glass packaging annually, with more than 500 kilotonnes ultimately disposed of in landfill, this technology, known as OrcaGreen Polymer Concrete delivers a meaningful environmental benefit.

Recognised with the Innovation Award at the 2022 Waste Innovation & recycling Awards (WIRA), OrcaGreen Polymer Concrete incorporates up to 80% recycled glass content and delivers up to three times the compressive strength of conventional Portland cement concrete — without compromising durability or performance.
