OrcaDrain
OrcaDrain® — Polymer Concrete Drainage Channel Systems

OrcaDrain Range
OrcaDrain is a high-performance, modular polymer concrete drainage channel system developed for the demands of modern urban environments. Designed for durability, hydraulic efficiency, and regulatory compliance, OrcaDrain delivers long-term value across urban, commercial, residential, industrial, and recreational applications, including sports and community facilities.
As cities become more complex and densely developed, effective stormwater management is increasingly critical and must be considered early in the planning process alongside hydraulic engineers.
OrcaDrain is designed to meet these challenges — balancing hydraulic performance, pedestrian accessibility, structural loading, and long-term durability in a single, integrated drainage solution.
Polymer Concrete Performance
OrcaDrain channels are manufactured from polymer concrete — a composite material combining resin binders with graded mineral aggregates to produce a dense, high-strength, corrosion-resistant, and low-porosity product. Polymer Concrete is widely regarded as a leading material globally for linear drainage systems, offering exceptional compressive strength, chemical resistance, and resistance to water ingress.
Compared to traditional concrete, polymer concrete delivers superior durability in aggressive environments, reduced maintenance requirements, and long service life — making it well suited to modern infrastructure and public realm projects.
Australian Made
OrcaDrain is manufactured in Australia for the harsh Australian environment, delivering the durability, performance, and quality expected from an industry-leading drainage system.
Integrated Edge Rails & Frames
OrcaDrain polymer concrete channels feature integrated edge rails and frames cast directly into the channel body, providing a robust and stable interface between the channel and grate system. This integrated construction improves load transfer, protects channel edges, and enhances performance in trafficked and high-impact environments.
Edge rails and frames are matched to the selected grate material, with options available in ductile iron, galvanised steel, or stainless steel. This ensures compatibility across the system, consistent performance under load, and a cohesive finish — while supporting compliance with AS/NZS 3996:2019 load classifications.
Channel Widths & Modular Design
OrcaDrain trench channels are available in a range of nominal internal widths, allowing designers to select the appropriate capacity for site-specific hydraulic requirements. The modular channel system supports flexible layouts, efficient installation, and adaptability across varying site conditions.
The modular design enables fast installation, simplified alignment, and reduced on-site labour, while maintaining structural integrity and long-term durability.
Grating Options & Performance
OrcaDrain supports a comprehensive range of grates designed to address safety, accessibility, load rating, and aesthetics.
Griptech® Grating
Griptech® grates are a patented grating solution developed to enhance pedestrian safety. Featuring a heelproof / heelguard design with integrated anti-slip nodules, Griptech grates reduce the risk of heels, wheelchairs, and bicycle wheels catching while delivering improved slip resistance in pedestrian and trafficable environments.
Griptech grates are available in galvanised steel or stainless steel, offering durability and performance in both functional and architectural applications.

Standard Grate Materials
OrcaDrain channels are compatible with a wide range of grate materials, including:
Ductile iron — high strength for heavy-duty and vehicular traffic areas

Galvanised steel — durable and cost-effective for general applications

Stainless steel — corrosion resistant with a premium finish for streetscapes and coastal environments

All grates and frames are available in load ratings in accordance with AS/NZS 3996:2019, supporting pedestrian, commercial, and heavy-vehicle applications.
OrcaGreen Polymer Concrete Capability
OrcaGreen incorporates a high proportion of recycled glass content, reducing reliance on virgin quarried materials while maintaining high structural performance.
OrcaGreen represents an advanced material capability within the Orca range available through Mascot Engineering and can be specified where sustainability objectives apply.
