Technodrain Evomax 150 Ductile Iron Class D Channel Drainage Solution
The Project
A car wash facility attached to a service station in Mt Lawley, Western Australia, required a robust drainage solution capable of handling the demanding conditions associated with commercial vehicle wash bays.
With regular vehicle movements and substantial volumes of wash water, an effective linear drainage system was needed to capture and direct surface water while providing the strength and durability required in a trafficked environment.
The Challenge
Car wash bays place significant demands on drainage infrastructure. The system must efficiently manage high volumes of wash water while being exposed to frequent vehicle loading, dirt, debris and contaminants washed from vehicles.
For the Mt Lawley facility, the layout called for long drainage runs positioned at each end of the wash bays. This made drainage performance, durability and load capacity key considerations when selecting the system.
The Solution
A total of 31 metres of Technodrain Evomax 150 Ductile Iron was supplied and installed, comprising two approximately 15-metre Class D runs positioned at each end of the wash bays.
The Evomax 150 Ductile Iron system combines a linear channel drainage design with the strength of a ductile iron grate, providing a heavy-duty solution for areas exposed to regular vehicle traffic.
Its Class D load rating makes it well suited to demanding commercial applications such as car washes, where drainage infrastructure must withstand repeated vehicle movements while continuing to efficiently intercept and manage surface water.
Positioning the two long drainage runs at either end of the wash bays allows water to be captured across the working area and directed into the site’s drainage system.
The Result
The completed installation provides the Mt Lawley car wash with a durable, heavy-duty linear drainage system designed for the demands of a high-use vehicle environment.
With 31 metres of Technodrain Evomax 150 Ductile Iron Class D installed across the facility, the system delivers the combination of effective water management and load-bearing performance required for day-to-day car wash operations.
The project demonstrates how selecting a drainage system specifically designed for heavy vehicle loading and high-volume surface water capture can provide a practical, long-term solution for demanding commercial sites.
