Metricon Stadium

Mascot Engineering were selected to provide a range of cable enclosure solutions to Metricon Stadium in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

This project had a range of unusual requirements.  The depth allowed for the cable pits under the field was extremely shallow at only 300mm and the covers had to suit the vulcanised rubber surface whilst ensuring there was a seamless finish without any form of trip hazard.  Whilst there are 300mm deep cable pits in the range, a pit size of 900sq and 1200sq was needed.

Mascot Engineering was able to meet the difficult brief and supplied our unique Mascot GRC Cable Pit Risers which were used with a base that was poured on site by the installer.  Custom mild steel access covers with access points and latches where designed to sit flush in the rebate of the riser.  The access covers where hot dip galvanised locally to Australian Standards and finished without the normal checkerplate finish on the surface.

Both the access cover and top edge of the pit where then finished with the vulcanised rubber surface to provide a continuous finish complete without any form of issue to competitors at the Games.

Mascot GRC risers are light and easy to handle on site, whilst allowing simple installation and placement of bellmouths and conduit entries.  Our local fabrication of mild steel access covers allows for manufacturing flexibility whilst ensuring relevant standards are met as well as our clients requirements.
