Australian-made OrcaDrain CV300 polymer concrete drainage channels were installed adjacent to the Munro Pavilion at Sydney Showground, combining substantial water intake capacity with heavy-duty grating suited to a busy public venue.
The 300mm clear-opening channels provided a wide drainage surface for collecting runoff. Class E ductile iron grates accommodated the demanding mix of traffic, from forklifts and delivery vehicles to large numbers of pedestrians.
The heelproof grate design made the system particularly suited to areas shared by vehicles and visitors. It supported comfortable passage for people wearing high heels, wheelchair users and people using mobility aids, demonstrating how high load capacity and pedestrian-friendly drainage could be combined.
Manufactured in Australia, the polymer concrete channels featured integrated ductile iron edge rails for a robust channel-to-grate interface. Polymer concrete offered strength, chemical resistance and durability for long service life. Widely specified for drainage channels, it is recognised as one of the world’s leading materials for trench drainage systems.
This project formed part of Orca’s established project history before the brand joined Mascot Engineering. OrcaDrain is now a new addition to the Mascot Engineering range, bringing proven polymer concrete drainage technology and Australian manufacturing expertise to our broader drainage offering.
