Designed to support the CFA’s growing operational needs, the Irymple Fire Station incorporates modern equipment bays, training facilities, and vehicle access suitable for the latest firefighting appliances. With safety and performance at the heart of the design, every product installed needed to deliver long-term reliability and stand up to daily operational rigours.

Technodrain Evomax with Class D Ductile Iron Heelproof Grating

For this project, Mascot Engineering supplied the Technodrain Evomax HDPE trench drainage system fitted with Class D Ductile Iron Heelproof grating—a system that’s engineered for strength, safety, and efficiency.

Technodrain Evomax is a high-capacity channel drain ideal for heavy-duty applications such as fire stations, where large vehicles and rapid water clearance are part of daily operations. Its Class D load rating ensures it’s capable of handling 8 tonne wheel loads with ease and tested to a 24 tonne load, making it suitable for use in areas accessed by trucks and firefighting equipment.

The heelproof ductile iron grating provides added safety for foot traffic while maintaining the strength required for vehicular access. Its anti-slip surface and secure bolt-down design help ensure compliance and confidence underfoot, even in the most demanding conditions.

Built to Last: GMS Protective Edge Rail

A standout feature of the Technodrain Evomax is its galvanised mild steel (GMS) protective edge rail—a detail often overlooked in similar systems. This edge rail reinforces the channel and protects it from damage during installation and use, particularly where grates are frequently removed for cleaning or access. Unlike many plastic or composite drainage systems, this robust edge protection adds years to the channel’s lifespan and ensures long-term structural integrity.
