Located in Melbourne’s vibrant Fitzroy precinct, The StandardX Hotel is a striking new lifestyle hotel that blends bold contemporary architecture with the creative energy of the surrounding neighbourhood.
Designed by Woods Bagot, the building features a distinctive façade and highly curated material palette that reflects the hotel’s design-driven identity.
The project places strong emphasis on architectural detail, with every element of the building contributing to the overall aesthetic experience — from the dramatic exterior to the carefully designed public entry spaces.
At The StandardX Hotel, drainage elements located at the main entrance needed to integrate seamlessly with the building’s curved architectural forms. The grating had to follow the geometry of the entry space while maintaining durability, safety and a premium finish appropriate for a high-profile hospitality development.
This required a solution that could deliver both precise custom fabrication and a high-quality architectural finish.
Each grate was curved and custom manufactured to match the unique geometry of the building’s entry design. The stainless steel construction provides both durability and a refined appearance suited to the high-traffic environment of a hotel arrival space.
The project demonstrates Mascot Engineering’s capability to deliver bespoke infrastructure solutions, working with architects and contractors to ensure functional elements integrate seamlessly into complex architectural designs.
Key product features included:
- Custom curved fabrication to match the architectural layout
- Stainless steel construction for durability and corrosion resistance
- Heelproof design for pedestrian safety
- High-quality finish suited to premium architectural environments
Mascot Engineering’s custom stainless steel grating contributes to the refined arrival experience at The StandardX Hotel.
By combining precision fabrication, premium materials and architectural sensitivity, the grating integrates seamlessly with the building’s sculptural entry design while providing reliable drainage performance.
The project highlights Mascot Engineering’s ability to support architects and builders with tailored infrastructure solutions that meet both technical and aesthetic requirements.
